This little guy really, really needs us.  We could just amputate his
leg - we have enough to do that, but his leg is repairable and we
really, really want to put him whole.  We really need your help on
this one - QUICK.

This poor baby isn't as lucky as Adam, we KNOW he has broken
bones.  See the x-rays below.   Bruno will need orthopedic surgery
- he needs to have an external device mounted to his leg to allow
the bone to heal and to prevent his leg bone from twisting while it
heals.  Unfortunately, our vet doesn't do this surgery so he is
referring Bruno to the orthopedic specialist.

He estimates that this surgery and the followup will cost around
$2000.  We need to take Bruno THIS week and need to be able to
pay that bill then.  The speciality clinics don't allow us to carry a
balance like our normal vets do.

Update June 24, 2005
This little guy really, really needed us - and you.  We could have
just amputated his leg - but his leg was repairable and we really,
really wanted to make him whole.

Bruno needed orthopedic surgery - he had a plate mounted to his
leg bone to allow the bone to heal and to prevent his leg bone from
twisting while it heals.  Unfortunately, our vet doesn't do this
surgery so he referred Bruno to the orthopedic specialist.

Update August 5, 2005
Bruno is doing well.  He has recovered from orthopedic surgery and
is now in a foster home.  He's very thin and somewhat shy, but now
that he is structually sound, we'll start working on the rest.

This is Bruno, we think he is a lhasa/
schnauzer mix.  Luckily, he is very, very
sweet and very young
This is the x-ray of Bruno's legs.  The
one on the left is totally snapped right
in the middle.  The one on the right is
what it is supposed to look like.  We
don't want to amputate the leg and our
vet has given him a great prognosis IF
we can do the orthopedic surgery.

Below is a side view of Bruno's leg.

THANK YOU!!  From Bruno

Thanks to all of you, Bruno had surgery this week!

You all are wonderful.  By mid week, we had the donations to pay for Bruno's
surgery.   His surgery was performed by Dr. Craig at Houston Veterinary Referral.
Our rescue vet recommended Dr. Craig because of the complexity of the surgery.
We want only the best for our pups.
Here he is after surgery.  Take a look
at that huge long incision.  There is a
plate attached to his leg bone to
stabilize it as it heals.
