Cassidy  is a very young Lhasa, about 2 years of age.
Sweet little Cassidy was an emergency release from a
Dallas-area shelter.  They contacted us with an urgent
request to get her out ASAP. No one knows exactly what
happened to her, but her back legs were skinned to the
bones and bloody. Her entire left back leg had the flesh
ripped off and the dew claw was barely attached.  The
right leg was highly infected and smelled tremendously
from this infection. It was scraped raw, down the bone.
The people at the shelter couldn't get it to stop
bleeding. The local vet said it's possible that she was hit
by a car. He said that sometimes dogs land in odd
positions with their legs "splayed" out and that could
have been what happened to Cassidy. She's just been
switched to a stronger antibiotic to stop the infection,
so hopefully her right leg can be saved. She also needs
hydrotherapy to help save her leg. The good news is that
she can urinate and have BMs, which is a huge concern
with this type of injury. Through this ordeal, Cassidy has
been the nicest dog imaginable. She truly understands
that she has been saved and now has a hope for a future.
Through her pain and confusion, she has shown nothing
but sweetness. She knows that we are here to help her
and take care of her.
UPDATE 12-5-2004
We've Cassidy x-rayed and found that she has a separated left hock that needs surgical repair.  This is an
orthopedic surgery that most likely will need to be done at Dallas Surgical Veterinary Clinic  - the great people
that took care of Rosie!!  But it will be expensive – we’re estimating at least $1000 and she’ll have to have it
by her appointment next week.  Please help Cassidy.
UPDATE 12-10-2004
Cassidy has now developed a bad cough and is on antibiotics. She will have surgery as soon as she recovers from
her respiratory condition. Our veterinarian has now given us a figure of $1200. Thanks to all of our wonderful
donors, we are almost there! Thank you so much!

Lone Star Shih Tzu &
Lhasa Apso Rescue
Forever Fosters are dogs that no one wants to adopt.  They might
be seniors and considered too old by most adoptive families.  Some
have terminal medical conditions and consequently, no one wants to
adopt them for that reason.

But we feel that they deserve a loving home despite their
problems.  So these special ones become "Forever Fosters."  This
means that they live the remainder of their lives with their foster
family but in the Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue
"Forever Foster" program.  The foster family provides a loving
home for the little dogs to live out the remainder of their lives.

But the little dogs need YOUR help with their medical bills.    Each
of the "Forever Fosters" needs a sponsor for their veterinary
bills.
