Emma is an adorable, young little maltese gal
weighing in at a whopping 7 pounds. She was stuck in an
animal shelter south of Houston with no chance at
adoption because of her heartworms. Although we
normally do not take in malteses, this one caught our
hearts - simply because she had no other option.
Unfortunately, once we got her to the vet we learned
that she also has congestive heart failure which makes
the treatment of heartworms very risky to her due to
her condition.
Update 3-11-05
Emma's heartworm treatment has just been completed
and she is now heartworm free. Thank you to all who
helped save this sweet girl She will now have to be on
special medicines for the rest of her life.
