Spanky  is a sweet Lhasa who was left at a
local shelter.  He had no chance of adoption
there because he was heartworm positive.
Below Spanky is a picture a heart that is
85%  infested with heartworms. Treating
heartworms is an expensive and lengthy
process.  Therefore most dogs who are
found positive for heartworms have no
chance of getting adopted because shelters
can not afford to treat them, so their only
hope of adoption is to be first taken into a
rescue group for treatment. Thankfully, the
shelter gave us a call and we picked this
cutie.  Spanky is currently undergoing
treatment for heartworms.
