TAMI - at the worst possible time, the summer dumping season,
a Houston-area breeder dumped several of her older female breeding
dogs at the pound.  Three of them turned up with heartworm disease,
a 100% fatal disease that is also totally preventable with only a
$.25 dose of ivermectin.  Of course, heartworm preventative would
have cut in on her profit margin, so these little dogs were facing
death at the pound (who would adopt a heartworm positive dog?).

Well, we picked them all up and are treating Tami's heartworms.
But, she needs someone to sponsor her vet bill.

DONATED
Thank You!!!
Because of the long recovery period(six weeks) and the expense of treating ($450-$600) heartworms,
most dogs that arrive at animal control facilities with heartworm disease are, out of necessity, euthanized.
Death would have been this dog's fate without the donors that allow us to save and treat medical conditions
like this.
Here Tami is being photographed at
the animal control facility.  She was
just turned in by the breeder that
has been making money on her
puppies for years.
Once at our vets office, Tami received a complete
physical, including blood work.  Her blood values
looked good and she was immediately spayed.

About a week after being spayed, Tami was doing
well so she began her heartworm treatment.

About Us
Forever Fosters are dogs that no one wants to adopt.  They might
be seniors and considered too old by most adoptive families.  Some
have terminal medical conditions and consequently, no one wants to
adopt them for that reason.

But we feel that they deserve a loving home despite their
problems.  So these special ones become "Forever Fosters."  This
means that they live the remainder of their lives with their foster
family but in the Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue
"Forever Foster" program.  The foster family provides a loving
home for the little dogs to live out the remainder of their lives.

But the little dogs need YOUR help with their medical bills.    Each
of the "Forever Fosters" needs a sponsor for their veterinary
bills.
