Pekingese. They found that he was heartworm positive and called
Houston Pekingese Rescue. Imagine their surprise when this is the
little face they saw.
They picked up Toby for us and he is now in our program.
Because of the long recovery period(six weeks) and the expense of
treating ($450-$600) heartworms, most dogs that arrive at animal
control facilities with heartworm disease are, out of necessity,
euthanized. Death would have been this dog's fate without the
donors that allow us to save and treat medical conditions like this.
