We Have Plenty Of Volunteer Opportunities Besides Fostering!
Many people want to volunteer but say they can't provide a foster home or that they would never be able
to part with their foster dog. Although we are always in need of more foster homes, we have plenty of
volunteer opportunities besides fostering! If you feel you can't foster but would still like to help, please
consider volunteering for our other areas of need which include - but are not limited to the following:
Our dogs need people to love them and care for them while they are waiting for their forever home! It's
true, we do fall in love with these little fluffs and sometimes it's very hard to let them go. Our reward
comes in knowing that we have saved a little dog from almost certain death, placed him or her a
wonderful new forever home, and now have room to save another desperate little dog!
We rescue hundreds of dogs each year. Without our incredible foster homes most of these of dogs
would be put to sleep.
Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue pays for ALL vet expense related to our little dogs. We
have several vets throughout the Houston/DFW/San Antonio/Austin areas and prefer that you use our
vets, but we also will establish a relationship with your veterinarian so that he/she can be used in the
event of an emergency.
Many times, these dogs need a bit of housetraining or a bit of confidence building. Please expect to try
to work with them and help them get over their issues so that we can find them the perfect forever
home.

The process for becoming an approved foster is the same as that for an
approved adopter. Please click the link to the left to go to the adoption
application process!
Many people want to volunteer but say they can't provide a foster home or that they would never be able

volunteer opportunities besides fostering! If you feel you can't foster but would still like to help, please
consider volunteering for our other areas of need which include - but are not limited to the following:
 | Transportation |
- Local - Picking dogs up from shelters and transporting to our vet, transporting dogs to events,
etc.
Cross-State and Out-of-State - Transporting dogs from one city to another either driving or
flying (with dog in cabin). An airline employee or person with frequent flier miles may want to
volunteer to help with air transport.
| Photography - Taking photos of our new dogs to post on our website and Petfinder.com. |
| Dog Walkers - Exercising our dogs who are in boarding waiting for a foster home to open up. |
| Temporary Fostering - keeping a foster dog once in awhile overnight or just a few days while a | |
| foster family is out of town. We also need temporary foster homes around holidays when boarding facilities need to free up kennels for customers paying full price. |
| Interviewers - To perform home interviews with potential new adopters. |
| Public Relations - calling people back who've left messages or questions on our voice mail | |
| line. |
| Promotions - Locating and registering for events at festivals or local stores where we can set | |
| up an information booth. Locating vets and other businesses willing to display our signs or provide discounts. Manning our booth at events and fundraisers. etc. |

| Project Management - manage promotional events, fundraisers, Meet & Greets, etc. |
| Printing - calendars, business cards, brochures, and other promotional documents. |
| Computer/Writing skills - write or update documents, data entry, web and database | |
| administration, etc. |
| Sewing - Sew doggie items to sell at fundraiser events or for our foster dogs. |
