IN THIS ISSUE
Hello friends and dog lovers!!!

Yep, we did it.  We recovered the little Champion
and guys, I caved in and we also took three little
one year old AKC sweeties who were classified as
"Imperials"

Many have asked about adopting the little Champ
we are calling "Kara."  She has tested positive for
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever so we have to wait
to resolve this issue.

Ch Sukara's Thru th'eyes of Love
AKC champion sold at puppy auction
Sukara's story started about three weeks ago
when someone emailed me that they saw an AKC
champion listed for sale in a well-known Missouri
puppy auction.  I was appalled.

On January 24, contacted the owner of the Sukara
line to alert her of this tragedy.  The response was
disappointing.

So, as you know, we came to you and you all
totally responded.  On February 10, the auction
happened.  Not only did we get the little Champion,
we got three other little females listed as
"Imperials."   Much like the terms "teacup" or "tiny
types" or "miniatures," the term "Imperial" is
applied to dogs of below-standard size in order to
make unsuspecting buyers believe they are MORE
valuable.

The problem is that they are so small, they often
have a horrible time during whelping - so I caved
and we got them.

Sukara's history
It's amazing what you can find through Google...

Ch Sukara's Thru th'eyes of Love was born on
April 22, 1998.  Her dam and sire were  Sukara's
For Display Only and Ch Showboat's Bodacious
Blossom.

On July 24, 1999, she was shown at the Coyote
Kennel Club and on March 26, 2000, she was
shown at the Ft. Worth Kennel Club.  Both times by
the Sukara line owners, Phyllis and Ken Schwab.

Sometime after this, she was sold to June Bruce of
Bruce's kennel.  June Bruce finished her to
Champion.

At some point in time, Sukara was bred to Ch
LacShen's Three Peat and a little dog named
Boomer was one of the offspring.  Boomer is a
stud in the kennel of a multi-breed breeder in
Crowley, TX.

The next we see of his little gal, she shows up in
the auction listing, being sold by a breeder named
Melinda and Jr. Alexander of Dixon, MO.

So, from Champion to puppy auction in four LONG
years.

Now, she will simply be a sweet, beloved pet.
I tried to find a picture of Sukara when she
finished her championship but was
unable.  Above is an artist's rendering of
what she probably looked like during her
heyday.  She's a beautiful tan and white
baby, tiny short nose and big expressive
eyes.

To the right are the pictures taken the day
she got to Houston.  Click on the picture
to see a much larger pictures.  The first
one shows her teeth - totally covered with
hard, yellow tarter.  In the others, she's
making herself at home on the couch.

The pictures below were taken on
February 16 after she was groomed.

Ribbon
Frills
Sequin
Here are the other three we recovered.  All AKC registered.

Oops, Ribbon was listed as an AKC papered dog in the auction listing, but when we received the
paperwork from the auction, we found she was only a APRI (America's Pet Registry, Inc.) registered.
Doesn't matter to us - she's a sweet 8 month old puppy!!
Click on their names to see their pedigrees.  Frills and Sequin have AKC Champions in their
pedigrees too.  Looks like a lot of good blood somehow gets to the puppy auctions.
