We often get a frantic e-mail from animal
control that goes something like this...

Heart worm positive female, black and while
shih tzu, three years old, will be euthanized
today, can you take her? Please call
immediately. 713 532 ****

Or a phone message like this,,,

Hi my name is *******. I'm 73 and I have a Lhasa
named Susie.  She's been with me  for 10
years and she's almost blind.  The thing is I
can't afford her medicine any more so I guess
I'll have the vet put her down unless you can
take her. She's been my faithful companion
and I don't want to see her suffer...

Or maybe we get this notice...

Puppy Mill going out of business.  Dogs will be
auctioned to the highest bidder.
